More about this scene
This seaside resort on the Cardigan Bay coast shelters behind its sand dunes and wide sandy beach. Its reputation as a watering-place was founded on the exceptional purity of its air and water. It is home to the Tal-y-Llyn Railway, which opened in 1865, making it the oldest narrow-gauge railway in Wales; it brought slate down from the Abergynolwyn quarries. This photograph looks south along the sandy beach, which stretches for some three miles.
