The lamp post still stands, but without its light, and beside it Ulverston's war memorial has been erected. Mackereth the chemist's (behind the war memorial) no longer lists the products it sold. A pillar box has now appeared between Mackereth's and John Neale's shop on the right. By now there is both horse-drawn and motor traffic on King Street.
