More about this scene
The Street is the name of this lane joining Lower Farringdon to Upper Farringdon. In the far distance we can see a cottage which was owned in 1839 by the Rev John Benn, friend of Jane Austen. The cottage on the left alongside the road belonged to Farringdon's Parish Officers, while the building to the right was occupied by William Wallis, a husbandman.
