More about this scene
Looking south down Scale Hill, once known as Church Lane. The first building on the right is the tramps boarding house, on the site of the Chequers Inn. Then follows the workshops of Uppingham School (1897) and across the lane the primary school with safety rails outside. The school had only about ten more years of life.
