Evacuee........

A Memory of Upton Bishop.

I arrived, along with my brother John and sister Lily at the outbreak of war. A big adventure we were told, but oh so frightening. Our mother had told us to stay together, and lucky for us we were taken in by Mr. and Mrs. Morgan. I soon settled in the day to day routine, delivering milk to the big houses before school. Our house was the local Police Station, coffin makers and I learnt a lot from being here. One of my friends was Arthur Whitlock, and I have often wondered what became of him. If anyone has any information or memories passed down of our time spent in Upton Bishop I would love to hear from you - although at 82 years old I suspect all our memories have long gone!!! I did visit a few years ago to find the graves of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan.
