More about this scene

In the distance is the Five Arrows Hotel; the five arrows symbolise the five Rothschild brothers - the badge is seen on houses and cottages all over central Buckinghamshire. On the left are the Goodwin Almshouses, founded in 1642 but rebuilt by Ferdinand de Rothschild in 1893, and beyond is the full-blown Arts and Crafts style Waddesdon village hall of 1897, also built by Rothschild. The Lion pub on the right pre-dates the Rothschild era.
