More about this scene

West of the village centre is Wadhurst Castle. This is not a real castle, of course, but rather a battlemented house of about 1818; it was greatly enlarged by Edward Buckton Lamb, that eccentric Victorian architect, and others by 1870. Here it is seen in its full glory, creeper-clad and, frankly, rather unattractive, before the disastrous fire of 1933 which left it a shell.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

This is not the lower high street at Wadhurst but the Flimwell Crossroads with the A21 passing from left to right and the road to Ticehurst beyond.
