I Lived In Wallington When I Was Young.....
A Memory of Wallington.
My memories of Wallington are more than I can put into words! My family and I moved there from Seville, Spain in 1942 during World War II when i was only 4 years old and didn't even speak the language. My 5 sisters, my brother and I went to High View School, and even though I am 77 years old now, I still remember the Headmistress, Miss Clark, and some of my teachers like Miss Eaton and Mr. Hilland. My name then was Mahri Rowe.
I was about 12 years old when I met 'the love of my life,' James Mahoney, at school, and I can still hear 'The Autumn Leaves' playing through the open windows surrounding Mellows Park where we walked hand in hand. Those were the good carefree days that I remember..... My family and I moved back to Spain after my father's death in 1952 and all about Wallington was forgotten, or so I thought, until I found this page, and I can honestly say I have cried tears of joy today!
I have lived in the United States now for 53 years, and wonder about all the friends I had and where they might be today: Lesley Varley, Pat and Jackie Errat, Nancy Carr, Shirley Titheridge, Janet Soper, Rowland Roberts, Peter Saunders; so many friends I would love to hear from.........We were known as the 'Spanish Girls' and lived at 74 The Chase. If anyone I knew then is reading this, which I doubt very much, please, please e-mail me at: tbfarrell92109@yahoo.com and we can keep in touch!
Thank you so much for the memories!!
