More about this scene

This view looks north along Woodcote Road towards the railway bridge. The station is on the left, but is concealed by the distant shops. This is the commercial heart of Victorian Wallington, uphill from The Green, and we see a fine row of Edwardian shops with flats above. Their canted full-height bay windows step down the hill in an elegant rhythm. Unfortunately, the developments on the left are considerably less consistent, being built at various times between 1910 and the 1950s.

Collingwood School Wallington
I attended Collingwood boys between 1963 to 1965. I have read many memories , and would like to share mine. It was a highly disciplined school, ruled by John Richardson. He was backed up by his father, who was known as Mr Richards. He was known by all the pupils as Ritchie. I think his speciality was history. I remember Mr Maynard the music teacher. The Other Coronation At Collingwood!
My memories of Collingwood began with my very first day there, in 1948, when I was l was left alone in a big empty hall, not knowing what to do! Eventually one of the teachers came in, saying crossly, " Why are you crying?" and not listening to the answer! Looking For Memories Of Manor Road, Wallington
We moved to a listed property on Manor Road a couple of years ago and would love to know more about the history of the area and road. Any memories, maps or photos would be hugely welcome!

Happy Hours Of Reading But Also Destruction.

So many hours of reading here in this library. The children's section was in the main door and to the right served by the 2 windows shown on the ground floor. I recall taking out every Arthur Ransome title and many others. I was fascinated by the section of the Surrey Iron Railway displayed in the gardens also to the right of the pool against the boundary wall. I wonder if its still ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
