More about this scene
Opened in 1874, on the site of a disused quarry on the edge of the town centre, the Arboretum is a surprisingly peaceful park where fat, contented ducks loaf around a pool. Every autumn the Arboretum stages a superb display of illuminations. While not exactly rivalling Blackpool, it does bring in over a quarter of a million visitors.
