My gran and Grandad lived in Walton-on-the-Hill Howard's close at number 47 does anyone remember Lena and George Taylor we lived at number 25 being so close to them made it even special living there
Serendipity finding this site. Unfortunately I do not remember Alan cooper but we must have been contemporaries. Like you Alan I started my education at St Hilda's in 1949. However I continued it at Breech Lane Primary until 1957 when I took the 406 in the opposite direction to Glynn Grammar at Ewell. I was born and lived in Chequers Lane Walton in 40s. Our house which was No 74 was the Police House and I used to cycle to St Hildas School at Tadworth, run by Miss Adams who lived in house opposite Chappell's newsagent in Tadworth. A while ago, a lady who came from Walton, was sharing her memories and mentioned she had been on holiday on the other side of the world. She had met someone who lived there and who had said they new of Walton, and of a particular gentleman, Mr Harry Bridges. I would love to read that memory again as Harry Bridges was my grandad
