This view was taken from the Obelisk, and shows the premises of E J Butcher & Son, bakers, on the left. According to an account in 'Warminster in the Twentieth Century' by Celia Lane and Pauline White, 'Miss Lang, who lived next door at No 22, kept a pile of shoes in her bedroom to throw at the rats from the bakehouse'.
