Wonderfull Days But Too Few

A Memory of Warnham Court School.

Hi, my name is Alan Sims, it could have been Morgan in 1953, I was there for two terms, I cannot remember too many names, Mr and Mrs Savage, so gentle after a tyrant of a teacher in London. I remember the Young Farmers Club and playing football on Front Court. My fondest memory was helping the woodwork teacher to finish buiding the stage in the hall, then one day he took me over to the piano and asked me to sing 'The Eings of a Dove', I was so shy but I had a go, then he said "You're in the next show as the crippled boy", I often think of him and thank him for his help. There's only a few names I remember in that show, a Miss Fowler, we used have some laughs about her boyfriend, I recall some thing about some keys in his pocket, then Miss Fox who had asthma like myself, and I think a Terry, it could be Bowler but I'm not sure. Another boy I remember but not his name, we would creep into the deer park, he would be crying but he would put those poor rabbits out of their misery. I also recall some colour slides taken of some of the shows, I remember looking at them in Mr Savage's study, I wonder if they are around anywhere. I moved to Swindon in 1955 and learnt to play the guitar and mandolin and still play and sing in a band. I could not have achieved this without the help of all those kind teachers. It feels like only yesterday, thank you.
Alan
