Washwood Methodist Church

A Memory of Washwood Heath.

My parents William Joseph Shakespeare and Hetty Constance Smart were married in Washwood Heath Methodist Church on 1st June 1940. I was married to Margaret Tudor in the same church on 20th February 1971. Our first daughter Louise was christened here in 1972. The church was demolished a few years later.

My brothers and I attended Sunday school and church. Sunday school was 2-3pm and I also remember celebrating annual church anniversaries. I also had the honour of being a May Queen :) circa 1969/70. I remember teachers Mrs Bsiley Mrs Montgomery and Rev's Heaton and Matthews. Lovely happy childhood memories. ....
