More about this scene
West Street is quieter than the High Street and this view looks south-west past the village hall with its somewhat ungainly porch 'perched' on the roof. The walls and buildings beyond belong to Welford Manor. Michael Ventris, the great archaeologist and decipherer of Minoan 'Linear B' script, is buried in the church yard at the end. He died in 1956 at a mere 34 years of age.
