More about this scene
Wells was a port long before it became a tourist town, as the functional harbour and large warehouses make clear. The parish register for 1583 records the loss of a Wells ship coming from Spain on the west coast of England. Fourteen sailors were drowned; the wreck was blamed on a curse laid on the ship by a witch from Lynn.
