More about this scene
Is this how Ebenezer Howard envisioned that his second Utopia would eventually look, when he founded it in 1919? The neo-Georgian shops and offices, designed by chief architect Louis de Soissons, stand on broad boulevards, with spacious pavements, but the ubiquitous car is already beginning to impose its own demands on the local population.
