Cafe On Wembley Triangle

A Memory of Wembley.

I moved to Wembley in about 1965 and lived on Clifton Avenue. My mum worked at a cafe on the High Rd until 1970 when we moved up north... Looking at Streetview, the area seems totally changed but I think the cafe was on the corner of the High Rd and Wembley Hill Rd, on the other side of the triangle from Wally Kilmister's model shop, which I remember with childlike awe.

I think the cafe was called The Empire Cafe. I remember on big football nights in the late 60s I used to stand behind a trellis table outside the cafe [aged about 5]; with loads of plastic cups full of orange squash - shouting "Ice cold drinks a Shilling!" to the passing fans. I often ended the day festooned in rosettes from the visiting clubs.

Can anyone remember this cafe, and it's actual name? My mum is now 95 and her memory is fading fast so it would be great if anyone could share their memories, or even better photos of the area at the time.

Thank you for your help,

Lee
