More about this scene

We are looking north-westwards from the Quay beside Pier Terrace to the old Salt House (centre), which is now the Harbour Museum. Essendon is the nearby chaletm with the Municipal Camp Field behind (left centre). The 'Trio', a coaster, is moored in the harbour (right). The 1960s saw the building of a bingo hall (centre left). Virtually the entire scene was under water on 11 February 1974 when a high spring tide coincided with storm-force winds.
