More about this scene
Without through traffic, this thousand-year-old village retains its rural traditions and sense of history. A century ago, West Burton was a lively farming village with a market and many shops. The villagers bought the green from the lord of the manor in 1969. The Black Bull dates from the early 18th century; it was a pub until 1924, and is now a house. The Methodist chapel behind dates from 1898, and the village hall was originally the Congregational chapel (1874).
