Training To Be A Teacher

A Memory of West Wickham.

1969 -72 I was a student at Coloma and have very happy memories of my 3 years there.
My friends and I attended when it was still an all female college.
Four of the friends I met there got together last year to celebrate 50 years since we first met at Coloma.
We decided to visit the college to see what had changed.
The hostels we stayed in for 2 years are now a care home. The old building which was also partly used as student accommodation is now a private school. The biggest shock was what used to be the lecture halls, canteen, common room and the building where the Friday discos were held was in the process of becoming a new housing estate. Due to the building works we were unable to walk around the grounds.
We also had a memory of seeing Status Quo in 1971 and ended up at a house party with them afterwards - none of us could remember how we managed to do this.
We attended lectures every day and we all agreed it was an excellent college, training us really well for a life in teaching.
We are all retired now and have remained good friends throughout the years, getting together each year to relive very happy times and catch up on our lives.
