Beyond Crescent Terrace lies the Royal Hotel corner, which is in North Terrace. Bram Stoker, the author of 'Dracula', stayed in Royal Crescent in 1890; he imagined his heroine, Mina, running after the sleep- walking Lucy as she went 'along North Terrace and down the steps to the quayside', and thence to the abbey, where there was an encounter with a bat-like figure. The only thing about the story which is real is this picture of North Terrace. (far right) detail from
