More about this scene
In the year before the Great War the women still wore long skirts; notice the two mothers on the left with their children in go chairs, the ancestors of today's buggies. The Red Lion (third from the left) and the tobacconist's shop to its left later made way for the new Woolworths. Further on is the Buck Hotel, and further still is the Ship Inn.
