More about this scene
Here we see the well-loved old glass-roofed Floral Pavilion with the Spa Theatre behind. Then, as now, one could approach them from the drive at the front, but the zigzag paths also made access to the sands easier. The afternoon tea dances held here were very popular, and visitors could dance in the flower-filled pavilion below its clusters of hanging baskets. The Palm Court was well named, and the Parks Department were rightly proud of their showpiece.
