This shows the first of the plague of holiday chalets which swept along the cliffside before planning regulations prevented their building. Today there are hundreds, many of them owned by Plymothians who come out at weekends to enjoy Whitsand Bay's four miles of sand.

My Fathers family of fishermen lived in Cawsand for generations and during my childhood in the early 1950's I used to stay with my Auntie Rose (Hammett) in the family chalet on Whitsand Bay. Mum & Dad staying with family in Cawsand.
