Widnes Maternity Home

A Memory of Widnes.

I was born in Widnes Maternity Home in 1946. Not sure if that was the correct name. My parents lived on Boston Avenue in Runcorn and my grandparents on Taylor’s row. It was great finding this site. I’m going to look at the pictures of Widnes and just marvel at it.

My mother, me and my daughter were all born here. I loved my time spent here. It was definitely a home from home. The staff were fantastic! I wanted to go there for the birth of my son the following year but sadly it was closed down as a maternity home three weeks before he was born.
