Widnes Memories And Friend Search!

A Memory of Widnes.

I was born in widnes in 1949, my dad taught at St Maries so we all went there to school. My best friend for a long time was Valerie Casey, she lived on Bancroft Rd and we spent a lot of time playing on the 'bongs'!

Val seems to have disappeared from sight, no one at the Friends reunited knows where she is, we were in touch through Broughton Hall til we both left then I think she went to Manchester
University. If anyone has contact I'd love to meet her again.

My brother John stayed in the town til he passed away, but my sister and I both moved away when we married.

I'm planning a trip to see St Maries church this week, it look s amazing on the photos but I'm sad it's no longer used as I have wonderful memories of making my first communion there and all the May processions.

Our old house on Peelhouse Lane looks very different now and the school Fairfield Sec. has all gone, every time I visit it's a bit changed.
