More about this scene
The nave is the oldest part of the minster church, dating from the mid 12th century. The pillars and arches are of different Norman periods. The eight round-headed windows above them were the clerestory windows of the original Norman church before the roof was raised. The aperture in the gable high above the eastern end of the nave was also a Norman window.
