More about this scene
The room above the south porch has now been converted into the parish office. In early times, it is believed to have been the home of the Grammar School. Later the Town Library, belonging to the Corporation - formed in the 17th and 18th centuries - was housed here. The Corporation removed the library when it was felt that the vicar of the day had begun to think of the library as the property of the church; it was later deposited in Wisbech Museum.
