More about this scene
The ladies on the left are perusing the windows of the Borough Studio, the photographic and picture framing business of J L Brown. These premises were subsequently bought by Lilian Ream - the leading photographic studio in the town, until the 1960s. Across the road can be seen one of Wisbech's familiar landmarks, the 'illuminated clock' on the clockmaker's shop, of Mr Dann. The Corporation paid Dann to light the clock during the hours of darkness. Fortunately the clock was retained when the shop was re-fronted for W R Smith, tobacconist.
