Skating By Night On The Frozen Lake At Wisley

A Memory of Wisley.

In the 1960's I lived in Papercourt lane Ripley, when The Lake froze over and a bunch of us enjoyed an exhilerating few hours skating freely. Wouldn't be allowed today. I've just written a poem about skating and have included this unique, unforgetable experience.

I remember Wisley Lake. Used to walk around it. Peaceful, nothing but good memories of the area in the sixties seventies and eighties.
Wonderful. Thanks for response Nick. Felt there must be nobody around able to identify or remember the area as it was - siting just beside the old Portsmouth Road. I lived on a boat by Richmond Bridge at that time, then to move upriver to D'Oyly Carte Island down Thames Street Weybridge, Then to Ripley. In Exeter now, where did you get to ? Did you skate on the lake ?
