More about this scene
St Mary's Church was built in 1827-28 and was designed by George Latham, who lived in Nantwich. By the 1880s, following the development of nearby Crewe as a railway town, Wistaston had become a sizeable suburb, so the chancel was increased in length and the transept was added. A covered porch (just visible in the picture to the left of the tower) was added in 1905.
