More about this scene
Britannia House, on Upper Tything, was designed by Thomas White as a mansion for the Somers family. It became a boys' school in the 1860s but by the time of this photograph it had become Worcester High School for Girls. In 1914 it became (and remains) the Alice Ottley School for Girls, in honour of its first headmistress.
