More about this scene
Built around 1280 for the Abbot of St Mary's Abbey, the building was enlarged in the 15th century. Although belonging to the King, and known as the King's Manor, it was never used as a royal residence. It is now owned by the University of York, and parts are open to the public, including the impressive Huntingdon Room built by the Earl of Huntingdon.
