More about this scene
Extensions were added to the palace over the following century after it was first built. Then in 1647 Bishopthorpe was sold to a Colonel White, who added further to the building. During the Restoration the palace reverted to the church, and the great hall was rebuilt. Later, stables and another extension on the west side were added.
