More about this scene
This is the second Station Hotel; it was completed in 1878. Renamed the Royal York Hotel when it was bought in 1983, it is a Grade 2 listed building. The station and hotel were designed by Thomas Prosser. Both thrive to the present day. The first hotel, built about 1851, still stands to the east of the old railway station, and is used by British Rail as offices.
