More about this scene
In the 1920s, the owner of a chain of grocery stores had two carved cats placed on the upper front of his shop - they were supposed to frighten the rats away from the river bank. The large clock on its ornamental bracket outside St Martin’s Church dates from 1668; it still shows present-day shoppers the time. The chap in the smart motor car looks a proper toff!
