More about this scene
When Dick Turpin was arrested and tried it was for horse stealing, although his crimes included robbery and murder. He was using the name of Palmer, and it was not until he was imprisoned that his true identity was discovered. He was taken from the prison and hung at Tyburn gallows at Knavesmire, now the site of the York Racetrack.
