More about this scene

It is time to relax in Marshall Gardens and look over Bridge Foot. To the left, Garlands Garage still has Austin and Wolseley cars for sale, whilst a steamroller rumbles past the Crosville bus stand. In the centre the Tower Restaurant is still standing next to the Old Academy. Across the road, on the corner of Mersey Street, the Packet House Inn hints at the days when packet boats carried passengers along the Mersey to Liverpool. Neon advertising signs telling us that 'Players Please' and 'Senior Service Satisfy' show that smoking had still to become an anti-social pastime.
