Brewhouse Hill leads from Wheathampstead to the hamlet of Amwell (not to be confused with the village, south of Ware, of the same name.) The almost new Vauxhall Wyvern E model is parked nearly opposite Collins, the antique dealer, and adjacent to the rather modern houses behind the slag-block wall. The village was the home of the Cherry-Garrard family, one of whom was with Scott on his ill-fated expedition to the South Pole.
