I understand that we all can’t like the same thing, but Rookesbury Park was a wonderful school for me, I was so happy there. I was a little bugger. I knew the school better than any of the teachers. I ran wild. I knew all the grounds and the farm next door. I just have the most wonderful memories, and I had so many friends. I was 8 when I went there ‘73 and it taught me lots. I don’t remember any bullying, the only bad thing I remember was being made to drink milk, and I hate milk 😂

I loved Rookesbury. On our third night my new best friend and I got the hot rubber slipper kept in the only hot radiator for looking out of the windows by Mrs Burrows. i attended this dreadful school as a boarder when i had just turned 9. The headmistress was Miss McVicar, a remote and outwardly very Christian woman, though this never translated to any kindness or compassion to the pupils. I was there with Miss Glenday the headmistress, there were three assistant matrons and one matron. My name was Moira Dibben and I was one of the assistant matrons , I am now 80. I remember a girl called Angela Porter who had asthma..I was in charge of the little ones and many of these children had fathers who were in the services and many miles away.I felt it was a very sad life for these little ones.I can remember ...see more
