More about this scene
Winchester Cathedral was built on marshy ground, and by 1905 serious subsidence had occurred. A deep-sea diver, William Walker, was employed to go deep into the marshy water beneath and shore up the building. A bronze statuette commemorates the brave man who saved Winchester Cathedral.
