More about this scene
Even though it was obviously a busy time of day, it hardly seems necessary to have a Keep Left sign at this point. There is not nearly so much of interest on the left of the picture because of the bend in St James' Street. Originally, when this part of the street was known as Blucher Street, after the Prussian general at Waterloo, the bend was much more pronounced — it was known as Munn's Corner because of the business that operated there.
