Burnley, Towneley Hall 1895

More about this scene
It is thought that a 13th-century wooden building preceded the present hall, which was built around 1350 and, until 1902, was the home of the Towneley family. Shown here from the side, the original medieval great hall has been much altered over the centuries, the mock-Tudor mullioned windows and battlemented turrets being the most recent change.
