More about this scene
The mill stands on the northern edge of town, with St Mary's graveyard visible beyond; it dates from Norman times, and by the Middle Ages was used for fulling cloth. The church was rebuilt by a rich wool merchant and his son in the late 1400s. It is famous for its stained glass, which has miraculously survived for 500 years; 28 windows tell the Christian story, and are known as 'the poor man's bible'.
