Milling Street - a Memory of Gateshead.

I was born at 50 Milling Street in 1955. I had my Auntie and Uncle living a few doors down. I was one of 6 kids so there were 8 of us crammed into our upstairs flat. The toilet was outside and downstairs in the backyard while the tin bath hung on the wall outside!! How life has changed for young families today in 2017. Life was very tough back then but it made us stronger and so grateful for the good life we have today. Remembering the past to appreciate the present 😊 My name back then was Sylvia Bambrough 😉Op

Tips & Ideas

Not sure what to write? It's easy - just think of an important place in your life and ask yourself:

  • How does it feature in your personal history?
  • What are your best memories of this place?
  • How has it changed over the years?
  • How does it feel, seeing these places again?
  • Do you remember stories about the community, its history and people?
