This is the scene looking back down Kirkby's Main Street towards the Royal Hotel, which can just be seen in the distance. The rather odd looking and out-of-scale motor car in the centre of the road has been transplanted from another photograph - a common practice in the early days, used to prolong the life of a postcard.
