Rothesay, From Chapel Hill 1900

More about this scene
A row of houses, beginning with the headland church tower, lies almost subdued below the tree-covered hills overlooking this bustling sea port. A backdrop of trees breaks any possible monotony from even roofs. Ample room is available for the three paddle steamers to approach and lie along the stone quay without impeding each other's passage. Judging by the funnel colours, the two immediately in the foreground could well be part of the famous P & A Campbell fleet.
