A superb view of an ivy-decked Howth Castle. It dates from 1564, and is a rather long and irregular building, flanked by massive square towers, which are perhaps the remains of an older castle.
In a prominent position overlooking the town, the Castle was founded c1200 by William Fitz Martin, after he was ejected by the Welsh from his original stronghold of Nevern Castle.

Bramber is located at the foot of a Norman castle guarding the tidal River Adur. The castle was stormed and wrecked by the Parliamentarians in the Civil War, in 1641.
