Rhos-on-Sea was the poorer cousin to nearby Colwyn Bay, yet it still manages an identity of its own.
The curving promenade is three miles long, running westwards from Rhos on Sea to Old Colwyn.
Rhos, as it is known, is less commercialised than some of its neighbours, and remains a gentle mix of resort and rural seaside town.
Its real name is Llandrillo-yn-Rhos, and the minute 6th-century St Trillo's chapel, built over a holy well, still stands on the promenade.
A garage stands on the left with a hose stretching out towards the road.
